Sphagno-Pinetum sylvestris Kobendza 1930

new search

These continental and subcontinental wooded peatlands occur in lowlands and submontane basins of continental to subcontinental areas. They are dominated by Pinus sylvestris, which creates an open canopy, with an admixture of Betula species and Picea abies. This vegetation occupies mesotrophic and oligotrophic bogs which are at least partially supplied by ground water. It is adapted to strong water fluctuations. In the Czech Republic it is rare, occurring at some sites at low to mid-altitudes of the Bohemian Massif.
