Salicetum albae Issler 1926

new search

This softwood floodplain forest type is dominated by Salix alba, rarely also by Populus nigra. It occurs along large lowland rivers at altitudes up to 335 m. The stands were historically affected by regular spring floods, which have become rare after streamflow started to be regulated in the first half of the 20th century.
