Populo tremulae-Coryletum avellanae Br.-Bl. in Kielhauser 1954

new search

This shrub community is dominated by Corylus avellana, which is accompanied by other species of shrubs and short individuals of trees. The herb layer is rich in species of dry grasslands and base-rich deciduous forests, but it also contains species considered to be relicts of early Holocene open woodlands. It is mostly found in deep river valleys or on steep hillsides at altitudes of 300–800 m, mainly on limestone, but also on other types of parent material in different regions of the Czech Republic.
