Hercynian rock-outcrop vegetation with Festuca pallens

new search

The alliance Alysso-Festucion pallentis includes thermophilous perennial vegetation of rock outcrops, usually dominated by the narrow-leaved tussock-forming grass Festuca pallens. It is found on south-facing slopes on both acidic rocks and limestone in dry colline landscapes and upland fringes of Central Europe north of the Alps.
